You haven't checked the connections. You made a surface-level assumption.
I had made the same mistake. I saw "Mitsubishi PLC" and assumed it meant identical results across different models. I didn't verify. That Saturday, I drove to the plant. I had the correct manual (finally). I physically handed it to the tech, helped him find the right communication driver for his laptop, and basically played assistant while he worked. We got the line running by Sunday afternoon.
The vendor apologized. They hadn't included the manual in the shipment because "it's online." I told them, "Not good enough. If you're selling the hardware, you sell the integration guide, or at least give me a heads-up that the manual is essential."

But if you're dealing with an older system and you have no technical backup, maybe stick with a model that matches your existing stock. The Mitsubishi PLC FX series manual explicitly outlines the compatibility. I should have read that before buying.
Now I always verify the manual is in the package. And anytime I hear a vendor say "it's the same, just newer," I ask for the wiring diagram. It's saved me from repeating the same mistake. For now, at least.
